20th Anniversary Celebrations!
19 March 2010
During week commencing Monday 22nd February 2010 all our children and staff had great fun celebrating Fledglings 20th anniversary. Parties were held at all three nurseries and in Irlam we were delighted to be joined by the Mayor of Salford, Councillor Roger Lightup and his Mayoress Mrs Valarie Fleet.
Garden Project
14 December 2009
To further enhance our existing facilities we have recently undertaken exciting projects at our nurseries in Stretford, Worsley and Irlam, which will provide fantastic new outdoor facilities for our children to use. The garden areas have been redesigned in accordance with the aims and objectives of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum for 0-5 year olds providing excellent resources to facilitate childrens' development and learning. Extensions to the reception areas at Stretford and Worsley will also provide more space for parents to sit, study information and complete paperwork during viewings and gradual admissions, while children are introduced to the nursery environment. Security will also be enhanced with the use of biometric entry systems and c.c.t.v. monitoring of all visitors to nursery.
The benefits provided through our enhanced facilities have been recognised by parents and childcare professionals alike;
Fledglings Nursery have always had a positive attitude to outdoor play. Since receiving the Early Excellence outdoor play, training and resources grant they have embraced the outdoors with added enthusiasm. I have observed children demonstrating their critical thinking and problem solving skills. The children demonstrate improved and sustained concentration: this could be because the noise level is less intrusive outside than indoors and the space is less inhibitive. Looking at the photographs from the setting it is clear that there are levels of cooperative play that may not be displayed indoors. I believe the key to the successful utilization of these resources is the training and motivation of the staff, availability and easy access to them.
